Why would you take a position buying a stock?

Everyone says you should know why your buying the stock, but the only reason is to gain more capital? Is that the same answer for every stock? Im in this stock to gain more capital, or is their something different.

Yes everyone buys and sells stock to make money. But when they say you should know why you are buying a stock they mean know why you choose a particular stock. Some people buy a stock because the know the company and like what they do and think they will continue to so well.

Some people like me do technical analysis, look at the chart and financial info on the stock, and determine if it will go up or down. You shouldn't just buy a stock because someone recommended it, why did they recommend it what did they see and can you see the same thing.
