How are banks going to make money now, since now you will be able to opt-out of overdrafts? and First Trust is not a trust, it's a bank

How are banks going to make money now, since now you will be able to opt-out of overdrafts?

Banks are going to scramble in figuring out how to make profits since they made almost 40 billion last year in overdraft fees.

If people now can go to the ATM or use a debit card and it will be declined - banks are going to lose serious profits.
Imagine a bank not making $ 36 bucks each time you overdraw for 2 bucks.

Will banks start charging for checking accounts?
How will they make up those fees?
Banks are not just going to sit there and take this - I know banks.

People being able to "opt out" of overdraft charges will mean that when they go to make a purchase, if they are even one cent short of the amount needed for the purchase, it will get declined instead of being approved. Trying to buy $ 20 of gas? If you've only got $ 19.99 in your account -- sorry, Declined!

Banks will find any way to screw us they can. This is why I keep telling people to join any credit union they are eligible for.

If there is a Credit Union in your town with the word "Community" in its name, then chances are very (extremely) good that you are eligible to join it.

First Trust Bank used to be known as Allied Irish Banks.

It's the Northern Irish unit of AIB Group, based in Dublin. In 1991, the Northern Irish operations of AIB adopted the name First Trust Bank, which actually sounds very American.

No. 42 to 44, Hill Street, Newry, County Down, N.I.

My Irish friend Neill very obviously brought me here to Hill Street in Newry, where quite a few banks have their branches! Thank you Neill!
