What type of person do you have to be to become an Investment Banker?

If you were a quiet/shy HS Senior with a 3.0 GPA and 21 ACT and average intelligence would you think investment banking would be the right career path for you?

That's a million dollar question!

If you are shy by nature then I would say it would not be the career path for you- that is, if you intend to work on a trading floor. Having said that, if you are quick minded and decisive then it may not matter that you are quiet/shy.

There are other careers in investment banking though. You could work in the legal department for example.

But if you have a conscience- forget it.

Edit: @ Rob - if he wants a career (that was the question) then presumably he wants to get past the point of entry level. And, as you said in your opening paragraph, you have to really, really want to be an investment banker. There's only one reason people go into investment banking. It's for the money. No conscience required.
