How do I get into investment banking at a good firm?

I am currently a student at the University of Houston and in my second year. I am a finance major in Bauer (there business school). I am wondering what are the next steps to getting an investment banking job when I graduate? What should I do to make myself more appealing to them?

You need top grades, especially since your school isn't particularly prestigious. An internship could help. A graduate degree in finance at a well-known university would help. Doing a research project on a topic that banks want to know more about would be very attractive. Developing contacts in investment banking would be huge.
