Best Person To Ask Taxation Questions: CPA or Lawyer?

My husband has a business, and although it is very simple with few transactions, he's starting to get to the point of getting a bit overwhelmed trying to make sure all the taxation is correct and so forth.

My question is this: Is a CPA or lawyer best suited for answering taxation related questions. Will a CPA or lawyer be able to answer the following: Do I charge sales tax on this revenue source or not? If I hire a person on a 1099 status in another state, do I have to file any returns for that state? etc.

I'm not a 100% sure but I would almost bet a CPA would be the one to ask. Now if it's a liability questions toward your business or something of the sort, I would resort to questioning a lawyer.
