Is majoring in finance sill a good choice these days? and Vienna Trip - Property, Finance & Investment and Real Estate

Is majoring in finance sill a good choice these days?

I'm a freshman in college, hoping to go into finance & math/stats. I've been told by certain people that, with this economic recession, perhaps I should consider changing majors. Others still say that in 4 years the economy will be well back on its way again.

I'm not sure if finance still has a promising future. Any thoughts?

There are plenty of opportunities in finance, even right now. People who say otherwise either have no idea what they're talking about, or are those who have no real formal education in finance and have been laid off, unable to find work. Finance is a field where there's a lot of formal education required, so if you end up earning a degree, you're fine.

As part of an international property brief, second year students studying property finance and investment and real estate courses recently travelled to Austria and Slovakia. They met with some of the regions' key industry professionals, learnt about international property investment and making comparisons between different markets.
