Where can I find stats on the odds of successfully making 7% a year through a given investment strategy?
Not looking for guesses -- but surely there are statistics on the percent of investment strategies (perhaps by "type" -- conservative, moderate, aggressive, etc. -- in this case, conservative) that successfully achieve particular targets.

Google in the word "DRIPs"
I have read a few studies that said these plans often times average double-digit annual returns if held for a long period of time.
They institute the strategy of dollar cost averaging and free dividend reinvestments.
I am sorry I cannot remember the particular studies. I have my own DRIP plan for over 20 years and it has averaged around 9% a year.
Keep in mind, the annual return rate will rise the longer you keep the plan instituted. So if you are looking short term, these DRIP plans are not the way to go.
