What do I need to do become an investment banker?
I am planning to go to schulich or UofT Rotman. Get a BBA and then a MBA. That's the general route, but can someone give me detailed information? I have seen that there are many careers that I can go into after getting an MBA, but how do i specifically get into investment banking? Any other information such as job prospects, experience needed, etc? Any information on a career in consulting after MBA?

first of all, in order to take your MBA, you need experience in the field.The MBA is based on this.Secondly, investment banking offers very few jobs.Only the investment geniuses enter investment banking.In order to get a job as an investment banking analyst you must already prove that you have knowledge in investing.Most of the investment banking jobs require work experience so if you aren't very intelligent and hard working or very lucky,you won't find a job.Nobody wants employees without experience...Keep in mind that most of the investment bankers who get a job have graduated from harvard,yale and other famous universities.Also, it is very important to know that if you get a job, you will probably work 90 hours a week which is more than many doctors do.I don't want to discourage you,but I also don't want to make you think that it is easy.I think it is better to have a medium-paying job than not having one.If you can resist to the stress and competitiveness of the job,try it! Why am I telling you this?I wanted to be an investment banker myself...
