My fiancee and I are going from our parents' insurance to buying a new car. How does insurance work here?
My fiancee and I are thinking of buying a new car. (2 names on title) Both of us are covered under our parents' insurance, and neither of us have owned a car before. How does insurance work here in terms of transferring to the new car? Do both of us need new insurance? Any other factors or considerations?

If the car will have both your name and and fiancees name then you both will have to take out a policy covering you both for that car. I assume that neither of your sets of parents names will be one the paperwork to buy the car so they are not responsible for it.
Your ages and driving records along with the year, make and model of the car you buy and where you live and driving habits will help an insurance agent determine your cost for a policy.
