If it's true that the colonists paid less taxes than the British citizens, why did we revolt?
So we justified the Revolutionary War with "no taxation without representation?"
Also, don't you find America to be ungrateful to the French? After all, without their help we may have never gotten out independence.

We were very grateful to teh french and even honored La fayette, who gave us help.
It wasn't the taxes in and of themselves, but that the colonies had no say in the matter.
If we had taxation WITH representation, that would have been a different matter

I saw a couple of Fair Tax signs. I haven't read enough about the Fair Tax to know if I really favor it or not. I"m not against wealthy people paying an income tax and anyone making less than a million paying the Fair Tax. I don't believe the Fair Tax should be for 100% of the population. As it is those make are millionaires actually pay a majority of the taxes in this country, and I think that should remain so.
I'm not against the Fair Tax for those that aren't millionaires though.
