In order to buy and sell securities, you will need to work for a registered broker/dealer and become a registered representative of FINRA by passing the licensing exams.
You don't necessarily need any particular type of education, but a business degree would probably help. The best way to pursue the career would be to begin networking with stock brokers -- there are a ton of them. Try to land an internship with one of them and move on from there.
Good luck!

This is the Trading Room of the Chicago Stock Exchange Building located at 30 N. LaSalle. The original Louis Sullivan building was demolished in 1972. The trading room was rescued and reconstructed at the Art Institute.
The building in which I currently work sits on the very site of the original building.
