ANZ Banking, officially Australia & New Zealand Banking Group, began life in 1835 in London when the Bank of Australasia was founded.

It became ANZ in 1951 following a bank merger and only moved its country of incorporation to Australia from Britain in 1977!

I've published a page on ANZ's history:

They say the best things in life often come in free.

How true.

As someone interested in banking history and a bank watcher, I was elated to see ANZ Bank's ATM machine at Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok International Airport.

Australia is just about the farthest country from Toronto and my bank photo portfolio lacks photos from Australian and New Zealand banks.
