How does insurance on a rental car work...? and Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones

How does insurance on a rental car work...?

I have liability insurance. I am renting a car for 5 days. They told me it would be $ 210. Will my liability insurance be enough? Will I have to buy insurance from them? Do you have to get ANY insurance? How does this work? What do I need to bring when I go to rent the car?

Liability insurance only protects vehicles you hit. It covers nothing on the vehicle you are driving. Buy the insurance from the rental car company. If you think the insurance is expensive, try paying for the rental car, loss of revenue and any other fees they will make you pay if you wreck their car.
