Hest Bank Level Crossing Frame signal box located by the Down Main line adjacent to a minor road leading to the Morecambe Bay shore line
Hest Bank signal box was a British Railways London Midland Region type 15 design which opened on 21st December 1958 fitted with a 30 lever London Midland Region Standard frame, replacing a London and North Western type 4 design signal box located by the Up Main line 165 yards to the south. The signal box was renamed Hest Bank Level Crossing Frame and reduced to non block post supervising the adjacent level crossing only on 7th January 1973 when signalling passed to Preston signal box. The lever frame was reduced to 10 levers in 1973 and was replaced by a British Railways London Midland Region individual function switch console on 4th April 1982. The signal box was rewindowed with uPVC windows in late 2008
The signal box carries a British Rail corporate identity printed design nameplate
