Why are churches given tax exemption - why should atheists have to pay through taxation?

If we give one type of business a discount (churches) on their taxes then we have to make up for that revenue by taxing people in other ways.

Why does an atheist have to pay for religiosity? I think we'd all agree giving organizations that do ONLY charitable things should have exemption but why should others have to suffer through taxation for your religiosity?

Churches are non-profit organizations. That is why they are tax exempt, as are all non-profit organizations.
