What is wrong about the taxation of trade routes (in the Phantom Menace)?
In the Phantom Menace, Padme treats the taxation of trade routes as though it is some sort of heinous evil.
What is so bad about taxing trade routes?

Her planet(Naboo) couldn't import or export anything. Thats would be like england blocking the trade routes between the US and China...we wouldn't have anything lol. But that was just palpatines way of getting the ball rolling on his master plan. It directly led to chancellor Valourum being voted out and him being voted in.It was pretty much all down hill from there.
