What kind of insurance does a security company need?

I'm wondering what kind of insurance does a security company need when you're trying to build a security business?

A "security company" can mean a lot of things. Are your security guards static or are they mobile (i.e. in vehicles)? Are they armed? Are they protecting someone (i.e. body guard)? Are they merely checking people into an office building or are they pursuing shoplifters?

This all affects what kind of insurance you might need. At the least you will need general liability with extended bodily injury coverage to cover assault and battery, professional liability, fire damage legal liability and workers compensation. You may need commercial auto coverage. You may need employee dishonesty coverage. You may need to be bonded. You will likely need to buy an excess liability or an umbrella liability policy because you will need very high limits. Whew.

Don't go to the name brand carriers that you are familiar with they will refuse to consider underwriting such a risk - No way, No How. You need to contact an independent agent that has access to the specialty lines carrier (surplus lines). The coverage you will need is available but only from a handful of carriers that specialize in this industry.

Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. is the largest insurance company in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. It has its headquarters in Trieste. In 2010, Assicurazioni Generali Group was the second largest insurance group in the world by revenue after AXA.

Under the name of Imperial Regia Privilegiata Compagnia di Assicurazioni Generali Austro-Italiche, the company was founded on December 26, 1831. At the time, Trieste was the most important sea port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The company grew in importance, becoming one of the largest insurance operators both in Italy and in Central Europe.

Trieste is a city and seaport in northeastern Italy. It is situated towards the end of a narrow strip of land lying between the Adriatic Sea and Italy's border with Slovenia, which lies almost immediately south and east of the city. Trieste is located at the head of the Gulf of Trieste and throughout history it has been influenced by its location at the crossroads of Germanic, Latin and Slavic cultures. In 2009, it had a population of about 205,000 and it is the capital of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trieste province.

Trieste was one of the oldest parts of the Habsburg Monarchy from 1382 until 1918. In the 19th century, it was the most important port of one of the Great Powers of Europe. As a prosperous seaport in the Mediterranean region, Trieste became the fourth largest city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after Vienna, Budapest, and Prague). In the fin-de-siecle period, it emerged as an important hub for literature and music. However, the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Trieste's union to Italy after World War I led to some decline of its "Mittel-European" cultural and commercial importance. Enjoying an economic revival during the 1930s and throughout the Cold War, Trieste was an important spot in the struggle between the Eastern and Western blocs. Today, the city is in one of the richest regions of Italy, and has been a great centre for shipping, through its port (Port of Trieste), shipbuilding and financial services.
