I'm looking to either get a CD or invest in a high risk bond. How do I know a bond is high risk and what are some examples?

Check the credit rating of the bond.
The thing to remember with CDs is that you're guaranteed your money back.
With ANY bond, you are not guaranteed your money back, hence the credit rating (risk of default).
lower the rating, the higher the yield..... but the lesser chance you will get your principal back.
