Can you list the following chemical bond in term of stability?
List the following chemical bond in term of most stable one to least stable one and why?
covalent bonds
hydrogen bonds
ionic bonds
metallic bonds
Van der Waals bonds
The problem is this is in college text book for BioEngineering, and I'm not the one who made up this question.
As for listing the strength of the bond I know that quite well already.
"Rank the following bonding types in terms of stability of bonds:" Is the exact question I copy from the book, anyway if you know it don't bother.

Sorry. This is a nonsense question. If it's your question, then I'm sorry, you'll have to do better than that. If it is your teacher's question, then your teacher does not undertstand chemical bonding very well.
Stability??? Do you mean bond strength? You cannot categorically state that one kind of bond is stronger than another. It will depend on the elements involved and the elements around them.
Generally intramolecular bonds are stronger than intermolecular bonds. Therefore the van der Waals forces, which consist of hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole attraction and London dispersion forces are generally weaker than "ionic", covalent and metallic bonds.
Of the van der Waals forces, it depends on the molecules. Surprisingly, London dispersion forces can be stronger than both hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions. It simply depends on the molecules involved. It is patently wrong to try to rank these.
As for the intramolecular bonds, again it depends on the situation. Some people might suggest that "ionic" bonds are strongest. Yet the strongest known bonds are between carbon atoms in diamond. Clearly these bonds are 100 percent covalent. It is not so much the type of bonds, but rather, the type of structure. Networks of atoms, regardless of whether they are "ionic" or covalent have the strongest bonds. Because some metals have extremely high melting points, we can classify some metallic bonds as being extremely strong.
I hope you see why this question is hopelessly flawed.
======== Follow up ========
The question is also flawed if nobody knows what the terminology is supposed to mean. Why don't you take a look at this "bioengineering book" and see if you can figure out what they are referring to when they are talking about "bond stability". Try the index.
Is "bond stability" related to the potential energy within a bond? Is "bond stability" related to how likely the bond will remain a bond? Clearly, this is not a well-defined term.
You might compare single, double or triple bonds between the same elements in terms of "stability" but you couldn't do that for the much wider range of bond types and conditions about which your question asks.
I am still of the opinion that your question is flawed.

BLANCHARD, Okla. -- Authorities don't plan to file charges against an Oklahoma woman who fatally shot a New Year's Eve intruder at her house while she had a 911 dispatcher on the phone, but the intruder's alleged accomplice has been charged in the death.
A 911 tape released to Oklahoma City media outlets Wednesday reveals that 18-year-old Sarah McKinley asked a Grady County dispatcher for permission to shoot the intruder. McKinley's 3-month-old son was with her when she shot Justin Shane Martin, 24, at her Blanchard mobile home.
"I've got two guns in my hand. Is it OK to shoot him if he comes in this door?" McKinley asked the dispatcher.
"Well, you have to do whatever you can do to protect yourself," the dispatcher is heard telling McKinley. "I can't tell you that you can do that, but you have to do what you have to do to protect your baby."
Oklahoma law allows the use of deadly force against intruders, and prosecutors said McKinley clearly acted in self-defense. According to court documents, Martin was holding a knife when he died.
"Our initial review of the case doesn't indicate she violated the law in any way," Assistant District Attorney James Walters told The Oklahoman newspaper.
However, prosecutors have charged his alleged accomplice, 29-year-old Dustin Louis Stewart, with first-degree murder. According to authorities, Stewart was with Martin but ran away from McKinley's home after hearing the gunshots.
"When you're engaged in a crime such as first-degree burglary and a death results from the events of that crime, you're subject to prosecution for it," Walters said.
Stewart was arraigned Wednesday and was being held in the Grady County jail. A bond hearing was set for Thursday. His attorney, Stephen Buzin, did not immediately respond to a message left at his office Wednesday night.
According to court documents, Martin and Stewart might have been looking for prescription drugs. McKinley said it took the men about 20 minutes to get through her door, which she had barricaded with a couch.
She said her husband had died about a week earlier – on Christmas Day – after being hospitalized with complications from lung cancer earlier that month.

Grady County First District Attorney James Walters said he does not anticipate a bill of particulars (asking for the death penalty) in the capital offense case, so restrictions were placed on the bond to protect the public and the private individual.
According to court documents, the conditions include:
• Restricted to house arrest and is not leave the residential/farm property owned by his parents located in Blanchard.
• Defendant shall have a GPS monitoring device for his person, which shall be installed prior to defendant being released from custody upon bail being posted.
• Defendant shall not have, directly or indirectly, any contact with any witness endorsed by the State of Oklahoma.
• Defendant shall not at any time be3 within 2,000 feet of Sarah McKinley; and
• If defendant is required to be away from his parents' residential/farm property as otherwise specified herein for emergency reasons or to appear in court or at his attorney's office, defendant shall be accompanied by at least one of his parents.
