What happens to student loans upon the death of student?
I have student loans that equal about $ 16,000. These are direct student loans that I had applied through fafsa. I am married but it is my signature on the loan. My husband did not co sign. Upon my death are these loans cancelled or will my husband be responsible for my debt?

Your estate would be responsible for the debt - when one dies, all assets and debts are noted and cancel each other out, leaving whatever remains as inheritance to those you bequeath it to. Your husband (assuming you'd leave most/all to him) would be second in line to all debtors.
