How are Union banks different from regular banks?

Will they pay me interest to keep my money in their bank?

I'm assuming that you mean credit unions versus banks.

Credit unions usually pay higher interest rate for your deposit comparing to regular banks, but require some sort of "membership" in order to sign up. Membership means you have to work for certain company, belong to military, a union member etc. However there are some credit unions that are very flexible with their rules, and just about everyone can sign up.

You may also want to look into one of the online banks like E*Trade (www.etrade.com), EverBank (www.everbank.com) or even H&R Block (www.hrblock.com). The last time I looked, they are paying over 5% for deposits.

Best wishes.

In H. P. Lovecraft's time, the Bank of America Building (or Tower), was known as the Industrial Trust Building (or Tower), and is mentioned in the following evocative sentence from Lovecraft's, "The Haunter of the Dark": "The feeling would persist long after the hill had faded into the violet, lamp-starred twilight, and the court-house floodlights and the red Industrial Trust beacon had blazed up to make the night grotesque."
