Is it smart to buy a vacation home in 2009, and to use it as an investment?
I want to purcahse a vacation home next to the beach, but I also want to use it as an investment property. Would it be a mistake to buy it with the economy down, or a good thing since the prices are low?

Of course it's a good thing. Would you rather buy when prices are really high or really low. It's a perfect time to buy. The price might go down even more becuase recessions generally last about 11 months, but prices are low and interest rates are also low. The Federal Reserve lowers interest rates to get people to stop putting their money in the bank and go out and buy. Theres nothing wrong with this, so enjoy your vacation home and don't worry if it drops a little more, long term it will be a great investment.
