How much does the blood bank charge the hospital for bone marrow?

When a blood bank sells bone marrow to the hospital for a bone marrow transplant, what does the blood bank charge the hospital??

The blood bank is not actually "selling" the stem cells. It is illegal to sell stem cells for transplant. What they are doing is paying for the services performed on the stem cells such as screening for infections, diseases, typing, storage and preservation (the stem cells are rarely taken directly from the donor to the patient, they usually end up being stored for atleast a couple of weeks), not to mention paying for the medical proceedures involved in the donation for the donor, which is the patient's responsiblity.

And its a phenomonal amount. You may be able to call a local hospital that does the transplant and ask. My transplant used cord blood instead of marrow so it might not be the same, and the blood bank services alone were close to 3/4 of a mil. And that doesnt count the phenomonal expense of the actual transplant itself and all the medical care that results.
