You cannot purchase directly from the London Stock Exchange. Only members who have purchased "seats" on the exchange can trade stocks on the exchange. These seats cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

You can purchase a stock through a stock broker, or from a online brokerage account, but first, you have to open an account, which will cost a lot less than purchase a seat on the exchange.
