What job can i get with a degree in finance and marketing?
hey i have a choice in geting a degree in financeand a degree in marketing.i want to know what jobs are available for them (although for finance i dont want to go into accounting).also which pays better.

This is a hard question to answer because there are just so many possibilities here. First of all, finance is finance; it does not feed into accounting nor do you want to go into accounting with a finance degree.
Each one has its path. Finance can lead into a lot of different possibilities. There's corporate finance, financial consulting, investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, etc. Corporate finance is a very popular path for finance students, as are financial consulting and investment banking. Private equity and hedge funds will take some time and training, as well as good credentials, before you can move toward that field. Right out of school, you can probably expect to make 50-70K in corporate finance and/or financial consulting. 50-70K is also the reasonable base salary for investment bankers right out of school, but the bonus structures there could increase your annual salary by 50% or even 100% or more. It depends on the bank you work for.
Finance people usually follow one of these paths and climb up. Most people who go into investment banking right out of school will not stay for more than two years; the lifestyle is pretty unreasonable and you won't get to do much except work an average of 15 hours a day (that's ALL seven days of the week) and sleep. However, these jobs do not have a whole lot of transferable skill sets, so it usually takes a while for former investment bankers to ramp up their careers again after getting out.
Marketing is a different story. If you're not great at it and your credentials aren't super impressive, the best you can expect right out of school would be marketing analyst positions, and these can range in salary between 30K-70K. If you're better at it than most of your peers, and you've got the personality and the people skills for it, you can come out making anywhere between 55K and 85K.
Marketing can follow many different paths as well, probably more than any other field. You can go into corporate marketing, strategic marketing, product marketing, advertising (includes creative, copywriting, media planning, etc.), public relations, event planning, and much more. The paths for marketing typically either go through the corporate ladder or through an agency. In either case, marketing feeds effective into different roles, and the skills are easily transferable to any role that isn't relied upon technical skills. Many CEO's in the Fortune 500 come from marketing backgrounds.
