What is the 3 month interest penalty on bonds?



On EE bonds, if the bond is less then 5 years old, and you cash it, it says there is a 3 month interest penalty per bond. What does that mean?

They will take away the interest you earned in the last 3 months on your bond.
Don't make it more difficult than it really is.
