How do serveillance cameras at banks work overnight? Do they have people watching them 24 hours? or are they recording onto film and only reviewed if someone does somthing big like try to break into the bank or somthing?

You probably won't get a straight answer from a bank.
In general, surveillance video systems now use digital technology and hard drives. They may use frame-comparison software to remove unchanging frames and only keep ones with people in, and probably trigger an alarm if there's movement when there should not be. They probably keep weeks worth of images..
