I'm playing this game on yahoo and I want to know more about the actual stock market.

If you would like to play the stock market safe at first, You should go with the Buy and Hold strategy. And buy stocks such as GE,BAC,PFE,T,PG,KMB and JNJ. Those are some tickers for a few forever stocks and stocks with great dividends. General Electric,Bank of America,Pfizer,ATT,Procter and Gamble,Kimberly Clark and Johnson and Johnson. When you buy shares in each one of these, its best to start a DRIP in each one! A DRIP is a Dividend Reinvestment Plan. A plan where all the money that you would be making every quarter will be buying more shares instead. If you only take the dividend as cash, you will have to pay taxes on it, but if you have a DRIP, you don't have to pay taxes. 8-) Good luck!
