Difference between an Ionic bond and a Covalent bond?

What is the difference between an Ionic bond and a Covalent bond?

And what are some examples to prove your point?

Ionic bonding is the transfer of charge:

Na (sodium) looses an electron and Cl (chlorine) accepts that electron, i.e., Na+ + Cl- (salts)

Covalent bonding involves the sharing of electron density amoung atomic/molecular orbitals

methane has CH4, the H-atoms are covalently bonded to the C (carbon) atom
