What does this mean regarding stocks and stock market?
What are stocks? I mean, I understand that it's for investing and stuff, but are stocks (shares) actually something that is visible (concrete)...?
Also, what does it mean when you say the market crashed. Like, I know that it sort of crashes in 2000 but what does it actually mean?
I'm so new to this stuff that I actually need it to be explained in baby language. I'm trying to read the idiot's guide to stock investing now.

A stock is something concrete, although not often represented that way. You can legally get a certificate with your deed to owning that piece of stock. A stock is essentially a piece of a company, or a loan you give that company. You give it say 100 for a share, and it repays you a month later with 110, that means they made money with your money. If they gain, you gain, if they lose, you lose. It's really simple actually. If you're really looking at investing I'd go and see a professional about this, like a financial advisor. Hope this helped! Any more questions just let me know :D

Stocking the Canal With Trout

I'd never bothered to inquire about how it's done. When fresh waters are "stocked" with trout, they certainly come from a hatchery. I've visited a few of those! But, how do they get from the hatchery to the place where people will try to catch them?
Yesterday, I stumbled on the Pennsylvania Department of Fish and Game releasing trout into our canal. And I went away impressed! At least locally, it was done with voulunteers and a lot of fun. They'd made it a family event!
The next flow of pics in my photostream show the fun enjoyed by a small group of local people, as they placed trout into the canal near New Hope, PA.
