How do you become an independent insurance agent?

Now that we are going to be forced to buy health insurance, I want the best possible policies for me and my clients. Becoming an insurance agent will help that happen. How do I go about it?

Well, first you pass a test that lets you sell insurance. Then, you find an insurance company willing to let you sell their product. With no experience, the second part can be kinda tough.

So, get your license now (go to your state insurance department website for study materials and testing information), and go work for ANOTHER agent for a few years, so that when these provision start kicking in, you have the experience and contacts to get your OWN appointments.

We went into our Marquette State Farm agent's office this afternoon so we could get Michigan insurance certificates for the fish car (new Michigan license plate--FISHCR). Dawn and Kelly were happy to have me take their photos.
