Go to a lawyer or Insurance company?
My brother was in a car accident involving a pedestrian in May of 2008. She was Jaywalking on the street close to the designated crossing area. My brother his her when he was taking a left turn and she was jaywalking. She had minor injuries. He went to court but the lawyer ruled on my brother's favour because she did not show up to the court. Now my brother and mom got served papers for because he is under my mom's insurance. We are not sure what to do next. Should we go talk to the our insurance company or find a lawyer first? We can't afford a lawyer so how do we get legal aid? Is it a bad idea to talk to our insurance company before talking to the lawyer? Because I hear stories about how insurance company try to get out of this.
