do financial/investment advisers just tell you what to buy?
i'm not really completely clear on this topic. what is the difference between investment and financial advisers, and is it as simply them them telling you what stocks/funds to buy (as an investment banker) or how to allocate your portfolio between things like life insurance, investments, tax arrangements, etc?

Not to much difference. The investment adviser will
advise you on what stocks to buy. The financial adviser
will advise you on all financial matters.
