Where and how can I buy some US treasury bonds? and Mountain Leopard on Ruskin Bond's Wall

Where and how can I buy some US treasury bonds?



Im interested in buying some, but where? In banks? ANd how? I dont care if its second market but if so how much of the value of the bond is retained if its bought secondary market? Preferable, i want newly issues trasury bonds. Please give any advice. Thanks.

You can buy them directly from the Government, look them up on the Treasury Dept. web site... most banks can do it as well as brokerage firms, but they might want some fee for the service.

edit: did not see the full question... no matter the actual interest rate of the bond, new or old, all of them are priced to reflect the currently issue interest rate, as so; a $ 10,000 6% Tbond bond would cost you more than a $ 10,000 5% Tbond if the 5% rate is the current interest rate, likewise, a 4% bond would be discounted in price.
