Is there more money in the bond market or the stock market?

In other words, do people generally have more money in bonds or stocks. Remember to consider international investing. Thanks.

This is two different questions. If you are referring to the overall bond market which includes treasures, its easily the Bond Market. There's allot in this answer that takes to much to explain in this answer.

As for individuals, it depends on how the persons portfolio is structured. That structure depends on their goals, age, marital status, and dependents. The average portfolio is divided into parts. Two of those parts are growth, short and long term, and long term. Depending on your adviser, the names of the parts may be different, however, their purpose are the same in any portfolio. Bonds are normally in the long term, and equities are normally in short term. Some people will place blue chip stocks in long term with bonds. The combination's are endless.

That information determines weather you will have more money in bond or equities.
